Russia postponed observant flight over Turkey

Russia transferred planned observant flight over the territory of Turkey which the Russian military should make since October 12 according to the program «Open sky». The official representative of the Ministry of Defence reported about it major general Igor Konashenkov, reports "Interfax".

«In view of the current situation in the Turkish Republic and the official address of our colleagues, the Ministry of Defence of Russia made the decision to transfer this flight within the Contract on the open sky for later term», – he declared.

According to Konashenkov, the Turkish side addressed to the Ministry of Defence of Russia with a request to transfer action in connection with «carrying out operation on safety». According to the Contract, flight should take place by the An-30B plane with use of airfields Eskishekhir and Diyarbakir, the representative of the Russian military man of department noted.

Now Turkish security officers perform the anti-terrorist operation declared after two explosions which has occurred on October 10 in Ankara. According to recent data, which Reuters brings, as a result of act of terrorism 97 people were lost.

The Contract purposes on the open sky, signed in 1992, is control over arms, prevention and settlement of crises within OSCE. The document was signed by 34 states, Russia ratified it in the 2001st. According to arrangements, onboard the planes used for flight of interesting areas, optical systems of supervision (including cameras), infra-red sensors, and also radar stations with the synthesized aperture are established. The equipment has in advance stipulated restrictions on resolution.
