India prolongs operation MiG-21 till 2020

India made the decision on extension of operation of fighters MiG-21 till 2020, the head of MiG Russian aircraft corporation (RSK) Sergey Korotkov told to journalists on Monday.

On Monday solemn opening of a monument to the fighter MiG-21 in ONPP "Technology" territory in Obninsk took place, in it took part the management of RAC MiG and the head of local administration Alexander Avdeev.

"We open a historical monument to the plane fighter which was until recently on arms more than 50 countries of the world. Today some countries still maintain this plane, and India, for example, made the decision to maintain it till 2020", – Korotkov at monument opening ceremony told.

The general director of RAC MiG also reported that on MAX-2015 he reported on the Supreme Commander on perspective development of corporation and received a positive assessment of the president.

MiG-21 is the most widespread supersonic warplane in the world, it was issued from 1959 to 1985 in the USSR, and also in Czechoslovakia, India and China.
