Paraplanes in the sky of Kabul can be seen even more often

Zaky Mokhammadi expects a fair wind on a hill on the suburb of Kabul. And here the paraplane lifts it in air. This girl one of the first in Afghanistan masters paraglider sports. And than admirers of this hobby becomes more increasing.

«I flied for the first time with a paraplane, and I delight. When I rose in the sky, felt a bird whom just let out from a cage».

But to fly, this girl should overcome many barriers.

Afghanistan – the conservative Islamic country. Women here received only recently access to education, to sports and work. Especially heavy situation was during "Taliban" board in the 90th years of last century. Today the country becomes more open, but the woman with a paraplane while here in wonder.

«When women see it, do not believe that their compatriots are capable of the such. It is a bad situation, we are threatened by danger. But I courageous, I can do it, and I want to do it».

To reach a place of descents, SUVs are necessary. Besides, women need to be protected from possible attacks from local population which not always supports their hobby. In danger can appear and foreigners.

«When I flied for the first time with a paraplane in Kabul, that, having landed, saw children. They gathered, as thought that I am a foreigner. They discussed, as me to plunder, and started to throw into me stones. But when I started talking to them, they understood that I am Afghan. They right there greeted me».

However, not only prejudices prevent paraglider sports to develop in Afghanistan. This hobby rather expensive. The equipment for flights costs on the average 5000 dollars, and month of occupations with the instructor – about 500 dollars.
